Parish’s Heart & Soul Project

As Father Sibby announced, our Parish has committed to prepare and serve one Sunday dinner each month for the next year at the Heart & Soul Food Pantry and Kitchen located at 939 Ontario Avenue in Niagara Falls.  Heart & Soul is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to feeding those less fortunate and improving their quality of life.  We are very excited about this new relationship with Heart & Soul and want to encourage all Parishioners, young and old, to participate in this project at least once over the course of the next year.  We believe that you will find it a worthwhile and rewarding experience.   

We will be serving dinner on the second-to-last Sunday of each month.  The dates are as follows:

Heart & Soul will set the menu and provide the food.  Our responsibility will be to prepare, cook, serve the food, and clean up afterwards.  We will need to arrive at 10:00 a.m. and will be finished by 2:00 p.m., so it is about a 4-hour commitment each time.  We will need a minimum of 20 people/helpers each Sunday. Heart and Souls Staff estimate that we will serve between 100 and 125 guests at each dinner.      

In conjunction with this project, we will also try each month to provide the needy at Heart & Soul with other basic necessities.  We will ask our Parishioners to donate one specific item each month and then deliver the collected items to Heart & Soul when we go to prepare the meal.  For example, one month we might ask for socks, the next month for toiletries, etc.  We will have collection boxes at the entrances of the Church for you to drop off the items as you come to Church. 

This is a Parish-wide project, not a project for any particular group or just a few individuals.  We need and want all Parishioners to participate.   It would be wonderful to have the families of our Parish participate as families.  We need parents and grandparents to set the example for their children who are the future of our church. An added benefit is that students can earn service credit for confirmation or high school by helping.
