Function of Organization:  To pray for an end of abortion, support organizations that provide services to unwed mothers and the needy, to keep parishioners informed of the church’s stand on pro-life issues,  and to do all within our limits so that the culture of death that surrounds us may be replaced by a culture of life.

Home and

School Association

Our HOME AND SCHOOL ASSOCIATION (H.S.A.) is the parent organization of our school family.   We are an active group that works hand in hand with the school and parish administration, faculty, and students to continue to grow and enhance the programs offered here at St. Peter R. C. School, as well as provide the “little extras” that make our school environment so great.   Our H.S.A. supports interscholastic programs, athletic programs, as well as other activities, such as Santa’s Secret Workshop and the Catholic School’s week Pancake Breakfast.   We are also the fundraising arm of the school, with four major fundraisers held throughout the year.

RECTORY VOLUNTEERS

Function of Organization: To assist the Office Staff with putting together bulk mailings, stuffing bulletins, or counting collection monies and answering phones as needed.

CATHOLIC CHARITIES

Function of Organization:  Conduct Catholic Charities Appeal in Parish within guidelines provided by the Pastor and the Diocese.  This diocesan appeal, which assists the needy in Western New York is conducted during Lent.      Activities:  Organize solicitations in Parish to ensure 100% of the Parish is afforded the opportunity to participate in giving and perform necessary administrative and clerical work such as recording responses and preparing reports for the Pastor. Volunteers are always needed for our telephone committee.

BISHOP'S COMMITTEE DISCUSSION GROUP

The ideal size of the group is between 6-10 members.  In order to assure the purpose of the group, three rules apply:  Group members must use the agenda material for the specified month and year, must be led by a leader trained by the Discussion Program, and should not be expected to be involved in fund-raising. The Bishop’s Committee was established by the late Bishop Duffy, for every parish in the Diocese.  The Bishop’s Committee Discussion Group program was established in the Diocese of Buffalo to encourage personal growth through self-awareness.  There should be a sharing and open atmosphere in the small groups where ideas can be freely expressed.

DECORATING (GARDENING) COMMITTEE

Function of Organization:  To decorate the Church and grounds for Easter and Christmas.      Meetings: When: Varies by holiday.   Time & Place: Varies – Church or Church Grounds   Note: Dates and times are put in the bulletin prior to the event.  Activities:  Decorate the inside and outside of the Church for Christmas and the inside of the Church for Easter.  Plant flowers in the gardens in the spring.

PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL

The Parish Pastoral Council will join the pastor in the leadership of the faith community.  Through prayer, deliberation, and living the gospel message, the Council will foster the spiritual growth of the parish.  The Council will also coordinate parish community activities, and through a shared vision, develop and implement plans to meet the needs of the members of the parish.  The individual members are called to a heightened awareness of the need for continuing formation and spiritual growth as an integral part of their ministry to the faith.  The Council consists of nine elected and six appointed members, along with the two parish trustees and the Pastor.  Elections are held each year in June and are opened to all parishioners who are at least 16 years old.

The Parish Pastoral Council is made up of five basic committees. They are as follows:

Spiritual Life concerns itself with enhancing and nourishing our human and spiritual growth to become total Christians in our society and promotes the worship of God and the prayer life of the believing community throughout each liturgical year.  This committee is also concerned with the un-churched of our community.  This committee includes Liturgy, Evangelization, Spiritual Renewal, R.C.I.A. and Bereavement.

Social Justice dedicates itself to following the Gospel message by providing physical and spiritual assistance to God’s needy through the organization and support of various Outreach programs.  This committee includes Right to Life, Peace and Justice and the St. Vincent de Paul Society.

Education while promoting a family spirit provides faith formation opportunities for all age groups and informational resources and programs to empower the community to live the Gospel challenge.  This committee includes Religious Education, School and Adult Education.

Parish Life concerns itself with enhancing community life by providing social activities and various programs of parishioner interest.  This committee includes Welcoming, Social, Youth Ministry, Health Ministry/ Parish Nursing, Parish Societies and Census.

Buildings and Grounds concerns itself with the finances and physical aspects of the school and parish.  This committee includes Maintenance, Parish Facilities and Finance.
