ALTAR SERVERS Adult Altar Servers are dedicated women and men who serve at the Altar of God for Funeral Masses or weekday Masses. Servers must be available Monday-Saturday mornings and early afternoons. Training will be provided. Youth Altar Servers are young women and men (Grades 4 and higher) who serve at the Table of the Lord. This is a special privilege given to those girls and boys who feel the dedication to help assist the priest at the Altar of the Lord. Training will be provided. |
CHILDREN’S LITURGY OF THE WORD
This special liturgy is held on selected Sundays of the month (October-May) during the 9:30A.M. Mass. After the introductory Rite, children in grades K-3 who wish to participate will be called forward for a blessing. The children will go to a classroom to hear the same Gospel reading their parents are hearing, but in a simpler version, followed by a brief Gospel lesson. The children will return to their parents in time for the Liturgy of the Eucharist. Volunteers are always needed. Contact our Religious Education Office for more details. |
GREETERS
Our St. Peter’s mission statement calls us to be a welcoming and open community of believers. Adults and youth willing to welcome and greet people before and after Mass serve in this ministry. Volunteers are always welcomed. |
LECTORS Christ is present and speaks to us in the Scripture Readings. It is the responsibility of men and women in the Lector Ministry to Proclaim the Word of the Lord. This is d one through careful preparation, reflection, introspection and proclamation. The Lector must feel comfortable speaking before the assembly during liturgical and para-liturgical celebrations. Each Lector brings a uniqueness into this Ministry. Lector Training Sessions are arranged as needed. A Lector should have a good speaking voice, have excellent communication skills and exhibit excellent command of the English language. |
USHERS
The Ushers have the responsibility of adding to the dignity of the Divine worship by assisting the parishioners at Mass, seating them in their proper places, assisting them in maintaining order in receiving Holy Communion, etc. They have a necessary function of receiving the congregations’ offerings at Holy Mass and other services, and bringing them to the priest-celebrant to be offered to God at the Offertory. They also maintain proper decorum at other Church functions, such as Confirmation, Forty Hours, etc. |
SPECIAL MINISTERS OF THE EUCHARIST
Any practicing Catholic who has a deep love for the Eucharist, and has been baptized, confirmed, and if married is married with the blessings of the Catholic Church is eligible to be a Special Minister of the Eucharist. These ministers share the body and blood of Christ with our St. Peter’s Family by distributing communion at Mass or bringing communion to the homebound. Diocesan training is required. |
